Social and Behavioral Researcher | Ethnographer
I am an experienced socio-behavioral researcher who has worked in complex knowledge organizations within the NGO, technology, and health-care sectors to provide insights on the mutual interaction between local processes and large global systems. My earlier research in academia and international development explored global systems of measurement in aid programs centered on transparency and accountability, and the ways in which they were used and transformed by local communities affected by those technocratic interventions. This background informed my subsequent work in IT that enabled me to help bridge the gap between global software design and the vernacular experiences of users in the workplace, schools, and homes. In my current role as a full-time Market Research Lead Consultant supporting Kaiser Permanente’s Hawai’i region, I lead health-care projects that allow me to navigate between translocal systems and regionally sensitive strategies in order to contribute to initiatives that meet both community needs and broader organizational goals.
An ethnographer by training, I have also conducted historical research on museums and heritage sites and have a long-standing interest in documentary films.
